The second the Central Asia (CA) Taskforce ( currently relabelled CAPH14) was held in conjunction with the ‘International Forum Multidisciplinary Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiorespiratory Diseases’. This ensured that as many people as possible learnt about pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary vascular diseases and about the PVRI. There were approximately 150 participants, from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Uzbekistan, of whom 25 were already interested in the PVRI. It was a conventional programme including speakers from Saudi Arabia ( Majdy Idrees), Austria and Portugal ( President of the European Society of Cardiology) but the most rewarding session was a round table in which representatives from the CA republics told of their experience in managing patients with PVD in their own country.
